Burbidge was first founded as a woodworking company in 1867, as H Burbidge & Son by Henry Burbidge. Towards the end of the 19th century, Burbidge joiend the car industry and began developing stunning rosewood and ebony steering wheels which led to them developing the first wooden tyre moulds for Dunlop Rubber Company.

Most recently, Burbidge introduced the Pembrey range, this range is available in bespoke painted colours, the in-frame kitchen range features special made to measure kitchen door sizes which finish the kitchen off to an impeccable standard. All painting for Burbidge kitchens happens in the UK factory, by hand, allowing timber doors to have a rich finish which shows the subtle beauty of the wood grain underneath.

Burbidge also released the Langton, a quintessentially British shaker style kitchen that has been brought into a new era by distinctively blending UK craftsmanship with specified materials. Burbidge kitchens deliver authenticity from top to bottom and this kitchen is no different. The Langton kitchen features many differetne design choices for contemporary kitchen design, mixing a stunning in-frame kitchen range with British manufacturing.

In 1970, Burbidge was approached by Crosby Kitchens, an enquiry to make solid oak kitchen doors, and so Burbidge kitchens were born. With a growing taste for solid wood in the kitchen at the time, Burbidge began to branch out into kitchen furniture and fittings, then leading to the natural progression for the company to bedroom furniture. 

Burbidge continued to work on bedroom furniture until the decline saw them losing money, with this in mind in 1986, Burbidge made the tought decision to move over to solely kitchen production as sales increased year on year. 

With five generations of Burbidge sons at the helm by 2004 Burbidge continues to prosper in the kitchen industry, producing new and innovative products for the fitted kitchen market both in house and in collaborations with long term sub-contract partners.

In 2016, Burbidge were awarded the Manufacturing Guild Mark for their excellence in British furniture making.
